Preserve and Protect: Challenge & Innovate
Born in Dublin, Garrett Phelan has developed a distinctive art practice that directly engages the audience with immersive ambitious site-specific drawing projects, independent FM radio broadcasts, sculptural installations, photography and animation. He has exhibited widely in Ireland and internationally, most recently EVA International 2014. The colour drawing LIFE AGAIN. LIGHT AGAIN. LEAF AGAIN. LOVE AGAIN. (No. 6) is part of a body of work of the same name. This work is inspired by an obscure nineteenth century poem ‘The Throstle’ by Alfred Tennyson and the action of Bird Watching. A large portion of this body of work exists within the permanent collection of Dublin City Gallery, The Hugh Lane.
