XL CATLIN GRADUATE PROGRAM (GRADUATES)
The XL Catlin Graduate Program is a structured and intensive two-year global program for graduates seeking real responsibility and the chance to make a real difference. The program combines on-the-job learning with study towards an industry-recognized professional qualification relevant to your role and rotations into a variety of business areas.
We launched the XL Catlin Graduate Program in the UK in 2009 and took it global in 2012 to bolster the ranks of new talent in the Company. The Program connects participants to senior leaders through project work and networking opportunities.
We are no longer accepting applications for the 2017 XL Catlin Graduate Programme. The 2018 XL Catlin Graduate Program will begin in mid-September 2018. We are likely to have opportunities within the following areas:
– Global Technology and Operations
– Finance and Accountancy
Development and Support
Joining a new company can be a bit daunting, so to help you to settle in you’ll be assigned a “buddy” who will show you the ropes and help you feel at home. You’ll also have a business mentor to offer guidance in your new career. Finally, your line manager will work with you closely and monitor your progress.
The program starts with an orientation, where you’ll learn more about yourself, the insurance industry, XL Catlin and your role in the company. Each year, you’ll join your peers for a development week of formal training in both technical and behavioural skills. Leading up to this week, you’ll work on a strategic business project with a small team. This will give you the chance to network with senior leaders in the Company, culminating in a presentation to a senior judging panel.
The XL Catlin Graduate Program offers a robust rotational element, enabling you to spend time outside of your home team with different areas of the business. This will give you an understanding of how the Company operates as a whole and how your home team connects to other functions and will help you make contacts at all levels of the business. Rotations typically range from one to eight weeks, depending on the region and business area. All graduates rotate into the “core” business areas — Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims and Finance — and have the opportunity to gain insight into other functions through either formal rotations or an in-depth seminar or webinar.
