XL Insurance launches absence management product for UK market

 — LONDON, 16 June, 2009 – XL Insurance, the global insurance operations of XL Capital Ltd (NYSE: XL), today announced the launch of its absence management product as part of its UK Employers Liability (EL) policy.
The cover provides employees who are absent from work due to injury or sickness access to a clinically-qualified professional via a freephone helpline. The helpline assessment and advice can range from an initial triage service to a complete occupational health evaluation.
The professional rehabilitation assistance will be provided by the IPRS Group, an independent physiotherapy and rehabilitation provider with 14 years of experience in supporting companies’ absence management programmes.
Stuart Sutherland, UK Primary Casualty Underwriting Manager for XL Insurance, said: “In the current economic environment it is even more important to have injured or sick staff treated and back to work as quickly as possible. Staff absence can be extremely costly for companies, especially in relation to their uninsured costs such as replacement labour, additional shifts and extra management time.
“Our product provides fast and independent advice in order to get the right treatment in place. Any delay in treatment will only prolong the staff absence and the costs for all involved. Our programme offers the flexibility to work around a company’s existing occupational health system.”
XL Insurance’s standalone EL with absence management programme is specifically designed to address the needs of large corporations as well as medium-sized companies.
