XL Group plc Announces Quarterly Dividend of $0.11 Per Ordinary Share and Dividend of $32.50 Per Series E Perpetual Non-Cumulative Preference Ordinary Share

Hamilton, Bermuda – July 27, 2011 – XL Group plc (“XL” or the “Company”) (NYSE: XL) announced today that its Board of Directors declared a quarterly dividend on July 27, 2011 of $0.11 per ordinary share payable on the Company’s ordinary shares. The dividend will be payable on September 30, 2011 to Ordinary Shareholders of record as of September 15, 2011.

In addition, the Board of Directors of XL Group Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, resolved on July 25, 2011 to pay a dividend of $32.50 per share on XL Group Ltd.’s Series E Perpetual Non-Cumulative Preference Ordinary Shares. The dividend will be paid on October 17, 2011 to all shareholders of record as of September 30, 2011.
